Alright so its a little late.

I ended up using some recycled carpet instead of hessian as I had originally planned but I think the end result was way cooler.

Its entirely self supporting and just needs to be tacked at the base.

I think if I staple it to a wooden base it would be even stronger to sit on as its your own weight that holds you up.

The cushin is just one off my couch it isn't attached yet
